China recently announced power cuts. The direct reason for China’s power rationing is the official order to achieve the annual carbon reduction target. In particular, Chinese leader Xi Jinping reiterated his commitment (reaching carbon emissions peak by 2030, carbon neutrality by 2060) in his speech at the United Nations on September 22.
The power rationing was criticized mainly because the electricity for people’s livelihood was shut down without warning. In addition to causing inconvenience to people’s lives, such as the inconvenience of the traffic lights, the inability to use heating equipment when the weather turns cold, and the interruption of water for people’s livelihoods, etc.
Although the road to carbon reduction in China in the future is still extremely difficult, but also because of its strong actions, there may be optimistic hopes for global warming.
